Privacy notice for Manchester Writing Competition 2023

If you choose to submit your work to the competition, we collect and process certain data about you. This includes:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your age range
  • Country
  • Email Address
  • Telephone number

Our lawful basis for processing the above details is ‘legitimate interests’.

If you are successful, you will feature on our website. If you no longer want your information to be present on our website, please contact the Manchester Writing School at writingschool@mmu.ac.uk or our data protection officer at dataprotection@mmu.ac.uk.

Your personal data will only be retained for as long as it is necessary in accordance with the University’s Retention and Disposal Schedule. Specifically, we will retain your personal data for a period of 5 years. We will retain an entrant’s poem or short story for one year.
