My profile

Biography

I am an experienced Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and have had a long career in finance working for various global blue-chip employers. I have had extensive involvement in supply chain operations and major projects including being the UK Customs Lead of a European Brexit task force.

My roles have often involved delivering accountancy and customs training which I have always enjoyed. My experience of delivering training, combined with my industry knowledge, helps inform my teaching. I am proud to be part of the MMU Business School and enjoy teaching and sharing my industry experience.

Interests and expertise

As a Chartered Management Accountant it is important for me to keep my accountancy knowledge up to date as part of my continuing professional development. A key interest of mine is the development of Sustainable Finance reporting. I also like to keep abreast of all the latest developments in business, especially relating to the supply chain and retail where the change is constant. Having first hand experience of Brexit, in my former role as Customs Operations Lead UK and Ireland, I am also keen to see how things are progressing and impacting UK businesses.

Outside of work I like to spend time with my family and socialising with friends. I am a qualified level 2 junior netball coach as well as a player and volunteer which I find hugely rewarding.

Teaching

I joined MMU in October 2021 and teach Retail Finance and Strategic Operations and Supply Chain Management to degree apprenticeship students. I also teach Financial Management for Managers to level 4 undergraduates.

I am a level 6 Research Project supervisor for our Marketing, Retail and Tourism undergraduates, and a level 6 Negotiated Business Project (Advanced) supervisor for our Chartered Manager Degree apprentices. My role is to guide students as they conduct a Practical Research Project. This is a considerable piece of work for our students offering valuable practical experience of research protocol and report writing, leading to a practical output which solves or improves an industry based issue.
