Biography

Dr Marilena Antoniadou is the Director of Education, looking after the strategy around teaching, learning and student experience in the Faculty of Business and Law. She is a Reader in Management and Business Psychology, and the Programme Leader of BA Business Psychology (accredited by the ABP).

Prior to joining ManMet, Marilena has worked as a lecturer in Public and Human Relations in Cyprus. She specialises in the role of discrete emotions and emotional self-management in the workplace. Her first degree was in Communications and Mass Media in the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. She then moved to MMUBS to study Public Relations. She completed her second Masters in Research in 2009, while she was also working as an Associate Lecturer. She was awarded her PhD in Management in 2013 at MMUBS.

She is the holder of the Newer Researchers Award for 2015 by the Society of Research into Higher Education. Her interest in conducting research within the field of Higher Education has encouraged her further complete an MA in Academic Practice from her current institution. She has published within the fields of educational management and organisational psychology. Her book from Edward Elgar Publishing explores the role of academics in the modern higher education arena. Her second book by Emerald Publishing investigates emotional management strategies in HE and is meant to be published in 2021.

Marilena is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an Academic member of the CIPD (MCIPD) and CMI (MCMI), a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE), and a committee member of North-West committee of The Association for Business Psychology.
