My profile

Biography

Biography

I am a senior lecturer within the department of People and Performance, with over fourteen years’ of teaching experience, specialising in people management, individual / organisational behaviour and cross-cultural management.

I am particularly interested in the impact of culture on individual and organisational behaviour and understanding the management of diverse and multicultural business environments.

Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, walking and exploring new places.

Interests and expertise

My research interests lie in the field of organisational learning and development and the impact of culture on internationalising organisations. The challenges and complexities of managing in a cross-cultural setting is an important issue for managers in the twenty-first century. I am keen to bring current research and management philosophies into my teaching practice.

Projects

I am currently undertaking a Knowledge and Transfer Partnership (KTP) as Academic Advisor with Deluxe Beds in Huddersfield. The overall aims of this KTP are to engender an inclusive, innovative and productive multi-ethnic and cultural workforce, by developing and implementing an organisational/behavioural strategy framework, informed by psychology drivers, to embed best practice behaviours, improve employee relations and increase productivity levels.

Teaching

I have been teaching for approximately fourteen years, mainly specialising in individual and organisational behaviour, learning and development and cross-cultural management. I also teach personal, professional and career development subjects. I am a personal tutor for Level 6 Business Psychology students and year tutor for Level 5. I have been the student disability co-ordinator for the department of People and Performance for many years now. I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students through their research projects, dissertations and work placements.

My priorities are to bring contemporary research and knowledge into my teaching pedagogy and to facilitate an excellent student experience!!
