Biography

Dr Ian Ingram is a “green” polymer and organic materials chemist whose research background also includes nanotechnology, solvents, semiconducting polymers, electronic devices, and sensors. His research at MMU is focused on developing a new generation of “smart” bio-based plastics that degrade when they are accidentally released into the environment, but are compatible with recycling and the circular economy. Prior to moving to MMU, Ian worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at York, where he was developing new bio-based polymers. Ian graduated with an MChem from Oxford in 2009, and obtained his PhD in Materials Chemistry from the University of Manchester in 2013.
