Intro

Collaborate with us

We extend a warm welcome to members of the Welding Institute Innovation Network who would like to collaborate with us on research projects and knowledge transfer partnerships. We invite you to find out more about our extensive network of research.

Our new Advanced Materials and Digitalisation Innovation Centre is a part of The Welding Institute Innovation Network.

We would like to hear from you. For an informal chat and to find out more about how we can work together, contact Professor Peter Kelly.

Research ecosystem

We offer expertise across many science and engineering disciplines, all of which are at the heart of industry 4.0 innovations and have applications across healthcare, computer science and mechanical and design engineering.

From surface engineering of functional materials to advanced materials, such as low carbon fuels, catalysis and nanotechnology, we are leading research in hydrogen technologies and can help with fuel cells, electrolysers and chemical transformations through electrocatalysis.

We have multiple active research projects in additive manufacturing as part of the circular economy.

Experts you can work with

We have leading experts in smart infrastructure, smart energy systems, connectivity, signal processing and data analytics, modelling and digital twins.

Our artificial intelligence researchers work across data science, machine intelligence, and human-centred computing and our cyber security team cover smart and secure infrastructure, mathematical modelling and flow analysis.
