The Returning Soldier Network brings together scholars and postgraduate research students looking at the figure of the returning soldier from the ancient world to the modern day.

It looks at how veterans have coped with the experience of returning home, how they were received and how they were perceived by the people and communities they returned to.

The network involves academics from history, English and art history departments of universities in Manchester, Leicester, London and Warwick in England and others overseas.

It organises events where presenters speak about relevant topics, including an annual symposium exploring a theme in detail.

Anyone with an academic interest the subject of military veterans can join the network.

If you want to join, please email the network leader Dr Kathryn Hurlock.
