Information about postgraduate scholarships

We offer a variety of funding opportunities throughout the academic year.

Many scholarships with the Manchester School of Art research centre are funded by The Howarth Charitable Trust and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

  • Funding for PhD study

    North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership (NWCDTP)

    The NWCDTP is a collaboration across the arts and humanities between Manchester Met and other universities in the north west of England.

    This partnership is funded by the AHRC and aims to develop a centre of excellence in the arts and humanities.

    We offer scholarships for specific research projects and scholarships through an open competition. More information is available on the NWCDTP website.

  • Funding for MA study

    Bernard and Frieda Clowes Textiles Postgraduate Scholarship

    The Bernard and Frieda Clowes Textiles Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded to a postgraduate student enrolled on the MA Textiles (full time) degree programme. It supports the value of postgraduate tuition fees for one year of study (maximum amount of £10,000).

    Applications for September 2022 entry will open in the 2022/2023 academic year and further information will be made available closer to the time.

    Masters’ Scholarship in Painting

    This scholarship provides £10,000 to support a masters student for a year. You can apply if you have an offer to study an MA or MFA Painting course with us in the 2022/2023 academic year. To apply, you must not have received any other Haworth Trust Art Scholarship.

  • Other funding opportunities

    Manchester’s Artist Community Studio Scholarship

    Manchester’s Artist Community Studio Scholarship (MACSS) is available for fine art painting graduates. The award provides financial support and professional development opportunities in the first year after graduation, such as funding for a studio space and to exhibit work.
