Exponential application of VR in education, an inevitable flame fuelled by industry 4.0. A talk by O. Timothy Laseinde (PhD) and Richard McAdam.
The speakers will briefly share their experience in the current collaborative VR project, potentials of VR as applicable to teaching engineering courses and undertaking laboratories, the future plan, and the current education kit developed by The Virtual Space.

The talk will take place from 10.30 -11.30am on Wednesday 26th September in room E4.21, John Dalton Building.

Short biographies for the speakers are below.

O. Timothy Laseinde (PhD), Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Technology, University of Johannesburg (UJ), South Africa
Timothy has a Mechanical/Production engineering background, with workplace experience which spans across academia, industry and the developmental sector. He has multidisciplinary experience in Project Management (PM), Quality Management Systems (QMS), systems optimization, engineering life cycle management, machines design, CAD systems, and Virtual Reality. He is passionate about the application of technology for improving teaching and learning in line with global changes fuelled by the forth industrial revolution. He is the academia lead researcher handling the South Africa team of researchers in the Industry-Academia Partnership Programme (IAPP) involving UJ, MMU, and The Virtual Space.

Richard McAdam, The Virtual Space Systems, South Africa
Richard McAdam is the founder of The Virtual Space virtual reality systems, a South African company that develops virtual reality products and experiences, with a strong focus on educational applications of VR. He is the developer of "Multiuser VR video player" on Android and "A Whole New Ball Game" VR game on HTC Vive, as well as the designer of the Goggles VR smartphone, VR headset and The Virtual Space Education Kit for Google Expeditions. Richard has well over 35 years’ experience in the computer field and 4 years specializing in virtual reality technologies.
