Biography

Professor Sally Randles joined Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK in August 2016 as Chair in Sustainability and Innovation within the Faculty of Business and Law. Sally combines this with roles as Faculty Lead on Sustainability; and lead convenor of the Sustainable and Ethical Enterprise Group (SEEG) https://www2.mmu.ac.uk/business-school/research/research-centres/sustai… . She also led the development of the first cross-faculty interdisciplinary (Business, Management, and Science and Engineering) new Masters in Sustainability, Technology and Innovation Management (STIM) https://www2.mmu.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/course/msc-sustainability-tec… . Sally retains Associate Fellow roles at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIOIR) at the University of Manchester, and the Centre for Organisations Research and Design (CORD) at Arizona State University, USA and held a Gordon Fellowship at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa. Sally has a PhD from the University of Manchester in urban geography and political economy where she compared economic development and governance in Manchester (UK) and Lyon (France). Her current research interest is in sustainability and responsible innovation, spanning systems and organisations perspectives. She has held leadership roles in a number of EC projects including the H2020 grants: SMART-Maps, JERRI and RES-AGorA. Previous employment includes Principal Economic Development Officer within regional government in the UK; Survey Officer and author at the UK Consumers’ Association, ‘Which?’ magazine; and co-ordinating community development projects in Spitalfields, East London.
