What does a scientist or an engineer look like, to you?

2019 study of online search engines found that the most common image for the search term ‘engineer’ is a ‘white man wearing a hard hat’.

In 2018, a study in the United States found that more children are drawing women as scientists than ever before.

The truth is a scientist or engineer doesn’t have a certain ‘look’.

That’s why we created our ‘Many Faces’ campaign – to highlight some of our amazing students, staff, alumni and industry contacts and show that everyone belongs in these industries.

Click on the departments below to discover different people from across the Faculty of Science and Engineering and learn more about their stories.
