Journalism, Information and Communications
BA (Hons) Multimedia Journalism
"I got the chance to visit a different country, partake in a different culture and work with some highly talented young individuals who I see as the future of journalism."
I enjoy the practicality of the course, for the most part, I have spent my years of study out of the seminar rooms and lecture theatres, either, filming, interviewing or recording audio. I also learnt about the theories of ethics in journalism, and it was something that I found myself quite enjoying, to my surprise!
My interpersonal skills have most definitely improved, interviewing techniques and skills are taught and these allow you to apply the skills to your day-to-day life. Furthermore, I’ve learnt how to become a media journalist; I feel I am competent at working with audio and video equipment.
I took part in an International newsroom project, a project that included Manchester Met students working with Dutch University students to create a small documentary highlighting the parallels of student life between Dutch and Manchester students. This experience complimented my time at University very well, I got the chance to visit a different country, partake in a different culture and work with some highly talented young individuals who I see as the future of journalism.
My top tip would be to step out of your comfort zone, and try to take as many opportunities afforded to you as possible, and also to utilise all the facilities.
...young and ambitious innovators who are willing to take risks, even if the prospect of failure is high.
I love the homely community feel that Man Met has, it breeds a warm familiarity.
