"I completed a year abroad on an Erasmus placement where I studied at the University of Seville. I learnt a great deal about Spanish culture..."
Final year Spanish Translation and Interpreting was the most challenging module that I ever took at Man Met, but it was by far the most interesting. Not only did it challenge my Spanish knowledge, but also allowed me to learn from others in a very amicable environment. I led a team of course mates in contributing to a real-life translation, which will soon appear in print. Our lecturer’s passion for the subject really rang through in every single session and although he pushed us to improve at every turn, it was certainly worth it. Other than this, my year abroad in Seville was unforgettable; a particular highlight was attending the Copa del Rey final.
Evidently my foreign language skills have improved in my 4 years here, but so too have my interpersonal and public speaking skills. A large part of a language degree is centred on speaking and if you’re able to do this confidently in a foreign language, then doing so in English will be a doddle!
In third year, I completed a year abroad on an Erasmus placement where I studied at the University of Seville. I learnt a great deal about Spanish culture through spending time with Spanish families, attending Spanish football matches as a season ticket holder. I remain friends with my Spanish course mates, some of whom have since come to England on an Erasmus placement.
Never be shy to take an opportunity to practise your language.
...the thought of using my languages to communicate with people all around the world.
Manchester, it’s a city that really does have something for everyone.
