What's New on Campus

Whether it’s your first year or you’re a returning student, you will find some exciting new developments on campus! From our brand-new Jobs Hub to additional study space, find out what’s changed and still to come.

On Oxford Road opposite All Saints Park, the Grosvenor East building is a new creative centre for the next generation of actors, writers, journalists, and linguists.  

Home to the Manchester Writing School and our new Manchester Poetry Library, it boasts a 180-seat auditorium for theatre productions as well as in-house TV, radio and movement studios. It’s also where you will find the Language Centre and our brand-new café ‘The Grove’, which is open to all our students.

Our existing Grosvenor building (next door) has been renamed Grosvenor West.

Our new Library Study (Oxford Road) provides almost 200 additional study spaces for you to choose from - including group and individual study rooms, desks with power points, PCs, and plenty of comfy sofas with beautiful views of the park.

You can find the new study area on the ground and first floor in the All Saints building, and it’s open Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 7:00pm.

The Jobs Hub is a new service to help you to achieve your career goals, whether you’re looking for part-time work, CV advice or planning your long-term future direction. Managed by our Careers Service, you will find it on the ground floor of the Geoffrey Manton building (replacing the Student Hub).

The School of Digital Arts (SODA) is our new purpose-built school offering courses in media production, film, sound, photography, animation, artificial intelligence (AI) and games design. 

At the heart of our All-Saints campus on Higher Chatham Street, this £35m investment has inspiring workspaces, networks, teaching and research, in an outstanding new building that will help us embrace emerging digital technologies and offer spaces for collaboration and innovation.

There are a host of places you can grab food and drinks across campus:

• Our new ‘The Grove’ outlet in Grosvenor East
• ‘The Hub Café’ and ‘The Hub Food Court’ in the Business School
• The ‘Art School Café’ Benzie

Whether you want something on the go, a sit down meal, or a place to relax with friends, take some time to explore all our outlets at Manchester Met.

You can also download our Mcr Met Food app (available on the App Store and Google Play) to earn points on your purchases, enjoy hot drink stamps, and even make contactless payments using your bank or Met card.

We’re creating a new state-of-the-art base for our Faculty of Science and Engineering, which will include teaching and research spaces, a 200-student super lab, study areas and green space.  

Construction is under way on the former site of John Dalton West. We are also refurbishing the John Dalton Tower and John Dalton Central and East to create great work and study space. 

Current access into John Dalton is via a new entrance on Oxford Road. Please be mindful of building work if you are based in or visiting the faculty. To stay up to date with developments, please visit our new Science and Engineering building webpage.

As building work continues, we have implemented safety measures, and you will notice changes to road and pedestrian routes and building access over the coming months.

If you are in or around campus, please make sure you:

• follow the safety signage near worksites and pay attention to your surroundings
• always listen and follow the instructions of the site foreman and their team – their job is to make sure you are safe and that no accidents happen
• use designated crossing points and pedestrian routes
• stick to the pavements – although some roads may seem quieter, they have not been pedestrianised and are still in use
• wait patiently if areas are temporarily closed so construction traffic can access the site
• take extra care when driving around campus and park in designated areas
