It has the potential to provide revolutionary computational speed-up, energy saving and novel applications and may be applicable to a variety of technological paradigms including Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS), neurons and superconducting materials.
Binary oscillator technology is a novel application of the abstraction of neuronal information processing applied to binary computing (and is unlike neural networks, which attempt to mimic neuronal systems). A major advantage of the invention is the potential to allow exponential improvements in performance with a linear increase in components. Proof of concept models have been built based on CMOS and Josephson Junction technology
