2016 Rosamond Prize Concert and Prize-giving

Free concert celebrates collaboration between Manchester Met students and RNCM.

The Rosamond Prize is the Manchester Writing School’s annual collaborative project with the Royal Northern College of Music and takes its name from the street that runs between the two institutions. The prize brings together Manchester Met’s MA poetry students with the RNCM’s composers, with the aim of forming collaborative partnerships. Each of these partnerships, established at a special showcase and networking event, work towards producing short collaborative musical pieces which are performed in concert. One piece is selected by a panel of expert judges and awarded that year's "Rosamond Prize".

Past years have produced some outstanding work, and a number of the partnerships have gone on to produce further pieces - including full-length musicals - beyond the competition. The prize was devised by the Manchester Writing School's Professor of Poetry Michael Symmons Roberts and the Royal Northern College of Music's Head of Composition Adam Gorb.

The concert and prize-giving will take place on Monday 25th April 2016 in the Carole Nash Recital Room at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). The concert will begin at 7.30pm. All are welcome, entry is free and booking is not required, although you can register your interest in the event via EventBrite.
