The complete suite of Microsoft Office applications. Completely free to staff and students at Manchester Met.

Office 365 provides all the productivity applications you'll need for an efficient and effective University experience.

Everyone currently studying and working at Manchester Met can use Office 365 online and download it on up to 5 devices.

How do I log in to Office 365?

On joining the University your Office 365 account will already have been created.

You should already have a University ID and network password. You'll be using this information to log in to Office 365 where you can use all the applications online, or download them to your personal devices (all Office 365 applications are already installed on University PCs).

What's included with Office 365?

Log in to Office 365 online and get access to the latest versions of all the Microsoft Office applications.

The following are supported by ISDS and the Helpline:

You will also have access to other applications online; please note these are not currently supported by ISDS and the Helpline. 

Please be aware that some applications can incur costs to the user for either licences or further functionality.

Logging in to Office 365 online

Staff and students use their MMU ID and password when logging in to Office 365.


Open your favourite web browser and go to


  • Enter your University staff ID number
  • Use your University network password


  • Enter your University student ID number
  • Use your University network password

Install Office 365 ProPlus on your personal computer

Download Office 365 ProPlus if you're planning to work offline on your own computer.

  1. Log in to
  2. Select the cog icon at the top right of the page
  3. Select Office 365 Settings > Software
  4. Choose the Download button
  5. Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions
  6. Stay connected to the internet and leave Office to install in the background. The time taken for the installation will depend on your internet connection. Please be patient and don't log off or shutdown your computer before this process is complete
  7. When prompted to log in enter your MMU ID number and your network password

Useful information

  • Assigned your own University PC? All Office applications are already installed and you will not need to download Office 365 ProPlus
  • On campus? Download Office 365 ProPlus by logging on to the free eduroam Wi-Fi network

Download Office mobile apps

The most commonly-used Office apps are available to download individually from both Google Play for Android devices, and the App Store for Apple iPhones and iPads.

After downloading the apps of your choice, you'll be prompted during the installation process to enter an email address and password.

  • Use a modified version of your University email address  (using your ID number ending in if you're a student, or if you're a member of staff)
  • Enter your normal University network password

Access OneDrive from within other Office applications

You can access your OneDrive area from within other Office applications for saving and opening files; you'll just need to add it as a location first. We've created guides to help:

Please note: students will need to do this each time they log onto a MMU PC. This is because the PC is wiped each time you log off to protect your data.
