Teaching

Why do I teach?

I teach so that individuals can achieve and perform beyond what they think they are capable of.

How I’ll teach you

My teaching style will never be just to sit and listen to me talk. Rather it will be a combination of aural, video and audio, with stories from my own career to really bring the subject to life.

Sports Law

Why study…

Sports Law is a relatively new field but is becoming increasingly high profile and sophisticated. It is no longer the case that it is just about the application of law to the sports sector, rather legal principles have developed that are unique to the sector. Indeed, there is no one system of sports law.

It has been suggested that first there is the application of legal principles by tribunals granted jurisdiction to hear disputes by national and international governing bodies – domestic sports law and global sports law – this stems from a private contractual order and series of agreements between stakeholders in sport whereby its own set of rules are being applied.

Secondly, there is the application of national, European and international law, together with generally or universally applicable legal principles, before “ordinary” courts – national sports law, European sports law and international sports law – this is the law imposed by nation/sovereign states and/or which is constituted by the treaties entered into by communities of nation states.

There is a significant degree of complexity about sports law and it is truly international in nature and scope. There are few discipline within law that have developed at such a rapid rate in the past couple of decades. By studying the subject you will learn how to apply the law in this most dynamic and relevant of environments.
