Chemistry student receives bronze at iDEA awards ceremony

Second year Pharmaceutical Chemistry student, Muhammed Etisam Habibullah Khan was presented with a Bronze Certificate at The Duke of York’s Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA) award ceremony by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Paul Griffith.

The University is the first to roll out iDEA, a programme that helps develop digital and enterprise skills for free. It is available for anyone of any age and can be completed at the learner’s own pace.

Etisam said, “It was a formal event, where we all collected our Bronze Award which was presented by Paul Griffiths (The Lord Lieutenant). We also had the opportunity to meet Councillor Eddy Newman (The Lord-Mayor) with Professor Malcolm Press (Vice-Chancellor) and Dr Lindsey Munro present. It was an amazing feeling! I met new people who were receiving the award and faculty representatives. We had time to network before the award ceremony began which was interesting as we had an opportunity to learn more about other people’s background, which really boosts your experience!

Receiving the award was an awesome feeling. The excitement in getting the award and shaking hands with The Lord Lieutenant is something that I have never experienced. I am proud to be part of this institution. Manchester Met has set an example for others to follow because we are the first university to run the iDEA programme.”

The silver and gold awards of iDEA will be introduced in Spring 2018 and in 2019 respectively.
