The Philosophy programme at Manchester Metropolitan University offers a supportive and vibrant environment for engaging with some of the most challenging ideas and issues of our times. Philosophy is home to a close-knit community of academics, researchers and students, and is distinctive for its emphasis on the tradition of European Philosophy.

We offer two undergraduate single honours degrees, alongside options to study Philosophy with other subjects as a component of a Combined Honours degree. Students get to engage with some of the most important thinkers of the past and the present, examine fundamental and far-reaching questions about the world and our place in it, and learn how to communicate their own ideas with clarity and rigour.

For postgraduate students we offer MA Philosophy and provide PhD supervision in all areas related to staff research interests.

Manchester Met is one of the leading centres for research in Modern and Contemporary European Philosophy in the UK. Staff are internationally recognised experts in their specific research areas. The programme regularly hosts research events, including day workshops, colloquia and conferences.
