Robe Booking Deadline

The robe booking deadline is 4:00pm on 1 July 2024.

If you do not order your robe by the deadline or decide to hire on the day in the robing room at The Midland Hotel, please note that it will cost significantly more and Ede and Ravenscroft may not have the correct robe or the right size for you.

If you cannot find the information you require or need help, please contact Ede and Ravenscroft.

  • How do I book my robe?

To book your robes please visit the Ede and Ravenscroft website.

Enter Manchester Metropolitan University in the ‘institution’ field and select the correct ceremony and the relevant award. The booking system will then choose the correct robe for your award.

If you have special requests, such as support due to a disability, or a preference concerning the gender of the member of staff helping you with your robe, please let Ede and Ravenscroft know on the day of your ceremony when you arrive at the robing room.

If you do not order your robe by the closing deadline for your ceremony or decide to hire on the day in the robing room at The Midland Hotel, it will cost significantly more, and Ede and Ravenscroft may not have the correct robe or right size for you.

  • Is there a dress code?

Graduation ceremonies are formal celebrations, and we ask graduates and guests to dress appropriately, for example wearing:

    • a suit, shirt and tie

    • a skirt or trousers and a shirt or blouse

    • a dress

You may find it helpful to wear a buttoned shirt or blouse to help secure your hood in position.

Traditional and national dress is also welcome.

Footwear should also be formal. Please choose your shoes carefully — if you are able to, you will need to use stairs to access the stage.

  • How do I collect and return my robe?

If you have pre-booked your robe it will be available to collect from 8:00am on the day of your ceremony from the robing room at The Midland Hotel, unless you have made alternative arrangements with Ede and Ravenscroft.

You will need the order number given to you by Ede and Ravenscroft to collect your robe.

Only graduates are allowed to enter the robing room, but up to eight guests may join you in the photography studios once you are robed.

Please retain the name label and pin for your robe and return it to Ede and Ravenscroft at The Midland Hotel after your ceremony.

Robe return closes at 9:00pm—except on 25 July when it closes at 5:30pm—unless you have made alternative arrangements with Ede and Ravenscroft.
