Sorcha will be involved in the following events:

A Keynote at Chinese University of Hong Kong (paper entitled: ' The Vulgar Fictions of a Demented Irishman: Postmodern Vampirism and the Cinema of Neil Jordan'. Details are available here.

A Guest Lecture at Academy of Film at the Hong Kong Baptist University​, entitled: ‘The Cinematic Afterlife of Bram Stoker’s Dracula’: from text to screen… and beyond.'

She will also be meeting international partners from Chinese University Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University, and, when possible, promoting my new book Postmodern Vampires: Film, Fiction, and Popular Culture (Palgrave, 2019). Available here.

Biography

Dr Sorcha Ní Fhlainn is a Senior Lecturer in Film Studies and American Studies here at Manchester Metropolitan Unviersity. Her background is in History, Politics and American Studies and consequently her work is largely rooted in socio-cultural, historical and Marxist approaches to Film Studies, Cultural Studies, Popular and Contemporary American Literature and Popular Cinema. She also specialises in Gothic Studies, Horror Cinema, with my research particularly focussed on Vampires (fiction, culture and film), and monster studies.
