WRITER IN THE PARK: Ljubljana International Literary Residency

Nikolai Duffy has been awarded the UNESCO International Literary Residency in Ljubljana for the month of October 2019.

Nikolai Duffy is the Assistant Head Postgraduate Arts and Humanities Centre and he is also Senior Lecturer in American Literature in the department of English at Manchester Metropolitan University.

During the residency he will complete a hybrid work of poetry and non-fiction on the historical significance of the Švicarija Art Centre in Ljubljana, and give several public readings and talks.

Nikolai's main areas of research and teaching are American literature, poetry, and experimental writing practices. Nikolai is the author of The Little Shed of Various Lamps, Up the Creek, Relative Strangeness: Reading Rosmarie Waldrop,and, as editor, Gap Gardening: The Selected Poems of Rosmarie Waldrop. He has also published various essays on experimental writing practices, contemporary poetics, and small press publishing. He is the founding editor of Like This Press, publishing handmade collections of poetry, short stories, and essays: www.likethispress.com. His most recent projects include two hybrid place writing books, A Hut on Ludshott Common and A Boat to Float on the Flood, about Bardsey Island.

After Writing School alumnus Mark Pajak, Nick is the second Manchester Metropolitan University poet to win a residency in a City of Literature since Manchester joined the Creative Cities network in October 2017.
