I love the variety I have within my course, I’m constantly doing new things and developing different aspects of the projects I am working on. I enjoy having the choice, it means I’m never bored!
In my two years at Man Met I’ve gained and have developed many skills. Now I’m able to manage my time and myself much more effectively as I have learnt how to juggle and manage my workload, whilst still having time for myself and my social life. Additionally, I’ve learned how to make new friends, manage projects, deliver presentations, write reports, attend events…the list is endless!
In addition to my course, I’ve attended many events outside of university that support my learning. So far, I’ve attended Deliver Conf, a collection of project management seminars, which this year was at the Comedy Store. I got to meet a lot of great people and learn more about the industry from the people that are actually in it. I have also attended Manchester Digital’s Talent Day, held in the Town Hall. There I got to meet many potential employers and talk to other students looking for internships. I found these experiences really enlightening as it made the corporate world much more human and approachable to me, being able to put a face to the industry really helped to overcome any nerves I was experiencing about meeting companies.
Be prepared to try new things. When I first chose this degree, I didn’t realise how much variety I would have when it came to subject matter. You’ve got to experience everything in your first year to be able to tailor your degree to your preferences in your next two years.
...women in the digital industry. It’s motivating to see influential women breaking stereotypes and redefining gender roles, it’s amazing to see women being powerful in their roles as managers, graphic designers, web developers and UX designers.
I appreciate the amount of effort Manchester Met goes to, to ensure that I am ready to go straight into the industry when I graduate.
