Bob Stone is Professor of Interactive Multimedia Systems at the University of Birmingham, Director of the University’s Human Interface Technologies Team, an Academician of the Russian International Higher Education Academy of Sciences and an Honorary Cossack!  A Chartered Psychologist and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, Bob has over 36 years of award-wining experience in human factors research and consultancy in both industry and academia.  His interests today focus on the development of human-centred solutions for virtual reality, mixed reality and advanced human interface applications in defence, heritage and healthcare.  His current projects range from the development of a new Mixed Reality training solution for future Medical Emergency Response Teams to VR recreations of submarine wrecksites, and from participation in the Mayflower 400 project, delivering a detailed Virtual Mayflower for 2020, to conducting drone searches over Dartmoor for the remains of WWII air crashes.  2017 is Bob’s 30th anniversary of involvement in the VR arena.
