MA European Philosophy
"If you have ambition, this is where you need to be."
The course has opened up new areas of thought for me and pushed me into reading difficult books that in normal circumstances I wouldn’t have finished. The effort to crystallise your understanding in a short space of time is probably artificial but has its own unique value in that it pushes your efforts into nooks and crannies you would not notice. The tutors are expert both in their subject matter and in their delivery skills, and obviously have vast reserves of patience with the (at times) painfully slow learning process.
The MA aims to produce a standard form of essay that provides you with the skill to do research and produce acceptable papers for journals as well as chapters for books. There is also the intimate involvement with the subject matter, which leaves you with a palpable feeling of knowing and the confidence to go with it.
I had a poem published in the postgrad magazine Hive. I continue to study the art of writing.

The ability of the tutors.
It’s modern, accepting, facilitating – if you have any ambition, this is where you need to be.
