MA International Relations and Global Communications
"I enjoy having my existing assumptions about how the world works questioned and analysed, and developing a better awareness of global political issues and theory."
The chance to discuss challenging new ideas on a broad range of really interesting topics with a diverse group of people with very different points of view. Testing my existing knowledge about politics and media and communications and exposing how much I have to learn. Having my existing assumptions about how the world works questioned and analysed and developing a better awareness of global political issues and theory. Getting the support of great lecturers with lots of experience who are always available to answer my questions. Feeling a sense of accomplishment when I hand in a piece of work I thought I’d never finish!
I’d say my critical thinking has really improved, as has my ability to read some really challenging texts, which until a few months ago would have sounded like gobbledegook! I’d never written an academic essay before this course so that is a real achievement. It has also made me more disciplined in terms of setting time aside to read and digest information and really grasp the topics I’m studying.
Do it! I don’t regret my decision at all and it has definitely improved me in ways I didn’t anticipate.
…the people I get to work with - fellow students and lecturers - who challenge me to think differently and go further than I’ve ever gone before!
The strength of the diversity.
